Sometimes you miss sleep, and this painting is about that half-awake, half-asleep state. Sleepy and awake faces appear amongst hands and other strange figures within an indigo-tempered nightscape. Bizarre images permeate the daytime and nighttime thoughts like in a trance. The faces are anonymous and could be me or you, but I painted this work when I myself was lacking sleep.

It is painted over an impasto underpainting.
